For this month’s Espresso Subscription, we’re teaming up with with Madcap Coffee Roasters, from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

About Third Coast Espresso

Madcap Coffee Roasters’ Third Coast Espresso is an intentional blend of two excellent coffees. To create Third Coast, Madcap rotates several of their best coffees throughout the course of the year.

This month, they’ve combined a coffee from the Bokasso co-op in Sidama, Ethiopia with coffee from Tolima, Colombia & producer Luis Reinoso. It’s sweet, flavorful, and complex in its pure form. Expect a rich texture, mixed berries, vibrant acidity and a balanced creamy body.

Madcap recommends pulling this espresso using 5 seconds of pre-infusion. Typically, we’ve found that with pre-infusion, we can achieve a higher extraction using a lower strength. If you don’t have pre-infusion, we’d suggest pulling your shot at a slightly higher volume (34-40g) than the suggested parameters.
