Introducing Smart Scheduling and Local Mode 

A new update introduces Smart Scheduling and Local Mode, allowing machines to power on automatically and stay connected via Bluetooth when Wi-Fi isn’t available.

The latest version (v1.5.2) of the La Marzocco App introduces Smart Scheduling and Local Mode. 

Local Mode allows users to connect and operate their machine via Bluetooth Low Energy when Wi-Fi is unavailable. If a machine loses connection, whether from a router change, network issue, or being moved into a new space, the app now automatically searches for it via Bluetooth. When a connection is found, Local Mode activates, giving the barista access to controls and widgets without needing to re-connect via Wi-Fi.  

If the app cannot locate the machine via Bluetooth, it will continue to display as offline, just as before. 

In Local Mode, users can:  

  • Change machine status (On/Off/Standby) 
  • Adjust Coffee Boiler Temperature 
  • Adjust Steam Boiiler Temperature 
  • Change Automatic Standby 

Not all widgets are available in Local Mode, and Connected Ecosystem features (like brew-by-weight) aren’t currently available in Local Mode. 

Note: Grind-by-Weight doses can be manually on the Pico when connected to the scale. 

Smart Scheduling automatically powers on the machine based on its warm-up time, ensuring it reaches target temperature precisely at the scheduled time. 

For example, if a user sets the machine to turn on at 7:00 a.m., it will begin heating a few minutes earlier so it’s ready to brew right at 7:00. This feature reduces waiting time and optimizes energy concumption for a seamless espresso routine. 

This release continues the app’s evolution toward greater flexibility and reliability. Alongside previous updates, it helps ensure consistent functionality beyond the home, such as Coffee Station setups for events, classes, or pop-ups, where a Wi-Fi connection may not be available. 

Local Mode and Smart Scheduling are now available for Linea Mini, Linea Micra, and GS3 machines.
