subscription coffee, october 2025
Dune Coffee was founded in 2009 by Julia Mayer and Todd Stewart with the plan of bringing specialty coffee to Julia’s hometown of Santa Barbara. They believe that specialty coffee is for everyone, and should be accessible, approachable and fun. Since 2009, they’ve opened 3 additional locations, started sourcing and roasting coffee on their own, and established a wholesale program.
They source 95% of their coffee through direct relationship partners. To them, sustainable partnerships are the reason they can serve these beautiful coffees year in and year out. Dune Coffee says “We will never compromise the care of our partners or the quality of our coffees.” their team will always honor the hard work done throughout the supply chain.
Dune Coffee has also been competing in the United States Barista Competition since their inception. This year, their Director of Wholesale and Education, Kay Cheon, took home first place after competing for 8 years! Their team is currently preparing for the World Barista Championship in Milan, Italy this October.
